[Q] Manual trans removal w/ - Engine in car.

    Hi All -

I was wondering - when removing the manual trans out of a Challenger - can you leave the bell housuing/clutch intact and just remove the trans?, for instance when needing to replace the slave cylinder?
When I did the engine - I just pulled/installed everything as one piece.

    TIA.

Bellhousing is integral to the transmission so nope not possible

Integral means the main case and bellhousing are all cast as one piece.

This isn't exactly true on the 6spd cars, as the OP has stated. One could remove the trans with the bell still on the motor, the problem comes in with installing the factory slave. The lines are metal and not flexible which makes the take next to impossible with bell in. It's much easier and faster to just pull the trans and bell together. Use a couple of long extension and a swivel for the upper bolts.
