3:73 gears and higher stall converter combination?

Charger SRT8 with 3:73 gears......would having a higher torque converter be redundant? The lower gears really gets this this heavy pig off the line now but wondering if TC would be overkill. It’s just a fun street car and never tracked.
    Thanks

Not needed unless your cam requires it to idle or you hard launch it from a dig.

If you aren’t actively drag racing, it’s not really needed.

I agree- I put in a 3000 stall when I was first modding. Now with the 3.73 Getrag traction even with 315s is a joke! The 3.73 was the greatest mod short of the Procharger.

Yeah it has a stock cam. ......With the old 5 speed nag1, it really needed the gears. I almost went with the 3:91 gears ( been cheaper) and probably would have been just fine but was concerned it would’ve been to much gear. ......With the 5 speed i could’ve gotten the 3:91s and not had any regrets with it I believe........ not sure about the new 8 speed trans though.

No regrets? I have a 3.73 on my nag1 and really wish I went 3.55. Any shorter gear would be crazyy on the highway

Indeed. It’s not a daily driver anymore but gets a fair share of street driving.
Still gets 17 mpg hwy at around 80mph on a cam/head car

At 60 mph Im turning only 2300 RPMs, not bad at all. I too wanted the 3.55s. After exhausted search- nothing, nobody is making them. I consider anything under 3000 RPM on highway is nothing on engine.

    Curious - why?

I have 3.92:1 which operate just fine on the highway (engines do not care what rpm they operate at)...

At 80 mph I’m running 3000 rpms. Car runs and sounds just right at that cruising rpm

I remember and old girlfriend had like a 90-91 Firebird. It ran 3k at 70mph and I thought that was awesome.

Cue my Charger on the dyno lol.
