    Aftermarket Driveshaft Question

I will be looking to replace my stock shaft in the future and was wondering that those of you that have gone with a one piece shaft did you get a vibration after doing so?

I really would like to stick with the two piece design, but can't find where anyone makes a stronger replacement for the stock shaft.

I saw that. Says it's a Driveshaft Shop shaft, oddly the DSS website doesn't show a two piece shaft?????

any time you take rubber out of the equation you will feel some harmonics. However it shouldnt rattle your teeth out of your head.

I do have a 2pc Chromoly driveshaft...after 2 GForce failures it was decided that's what would work on my build. I can't tell you the cost of it, because after the trans failed and shredded #2, he ate all related costs including the 2pc shaft.

Years ago, before DSS and GForce hit the stage, Arrington was the place to get things done. They used a guy that made chromoly 2 pieces for all their high hp builds. I don't know who it is, because I wasn't made privy to that info, but IIRC he's out of Winston Salem, NC.

I'm absolutely satisfied with it. They beefed up my carrier bearing support to keep in in place and I've put several thousand vibration free miles on it since January.

If the Good Lord wills it, I'm going to the track Friday night and make sure I can't break it. I was told I could put 2k HP to it and it wouldn't break. We'll see lol

I have no vibrations at all. However, that clunk at the 2-1 downshift coming to a stop will make you think the car is falling apart. Keep in mind, I have a 9" rear bolted directly to the car, so I can hear everything...but I've wondered if the cars next to me can hear it too lol

With a factory rear and bushings in place I'm sure it wouldn't sound like mine though. I literally have a street legal race car Aftermarket Driveshaft Question

No vibrations from my 1 piece aluminum. In the car for 5-6 years now. You will hear the differential more but no “vibrations”.

^^ Same here; aluminum 1pc which has withstood what I make it do. No vibration. The concern is there has been 1pc units in the past exhibiting vibration. I don;t know if they were addressed and how. I did find out that a solid closed-foam tube (similar to pool noodles) is forced inside to address ringing. If that material is too close ot the ends when welded, it will melt and sag due to gravity. As this increases density near the periphery, vibration will be present.

One of the ways vibration got addressed (at least by DSS) is they have a new machine that spins the shaft at close to 9000 rpms, some actually AT 9000, where as most are only spinning to 3000 for balancing.

Mine was apparently subject to this procedure. I trust it now all the way to the edge velocity-wise.
