I found a shallow 3/8" drive socket at Autozone that works perfectly; you just have to do it even ly between the two and push the diff forward so the bolts don't stick out too far and the socket gets stuck. Only way to just back tem out all the way is to drop the cradle; ironically, to drop the diff the FSM does NOT say to drop the cradle lol:

    9. Remove rear axle forward mount isolator (1) bolt/
    nut (2).
    10. Remove two rear axle-to-crossmember bolts (1).
    11. Carefully lower rear axle. While lowering axle,
separate propeller shaft from axle and support
with suitable rope or wire (1).
    12. Lower axle just enough to remove both halfshafts
one at a time. Shift axle assembly in one direction,
    compressing one halfshaft while removing
the other (1). Use caution to protect axle seal and
    journal.

Search is your friend. There's a thread here that mentions grinding down an 18mm socket if I recall correctly. Look for threads also from BFNY (Erik)

As previously stated search is your friend! Search Ronan rear differential tips, excellent read with pictures.

Oh yea, I did my sway bar too. I did look and think how the hell are you supposed to get to the diff bolts bolts without lowering the cradle.
Glad I didn't have to try. I just dropped it, then swapped the diff, then swapped the sway bar.

For the sway bar yeah, cradle has to come down. Worth it for the upgrade in handling though.
